A large and extremely popular Dutch city, Rotterdam is full of hotels, with the local tourist office being happy to make room reservations if required, for just a small booking charge. Although Rotterdam is really very much a bustling metropolis, its actual city centre is relatively small and accommodation here is usually only a short walk for the main sights. The Europoort itself can be found within an hour's drive of the centre of Rotterdam.
To experience a higher class and a wider choice of accommodation, it is recommended to make the journey into the city centre. Do note that lodging rates in the city vary greatly according to demand, with the Zomer Carnaval (Summer Carnival) and the Zomerpodium (Summer Stage) events each August always attracting large crowds and directly affecting hotel occupancy levels.
The Eden Savoy Hotel Rotterdam is a particularly reliable four-star facility located in the old city centre, being conveniently close to the Old Harbour Area. If you fancy staying on the actual water itself, then the Hotel Boat De Clipper is an unusual alternative and makes the very most of the appealing waterline scenery.
Also of note is the newly renovated Bilderberg Park Hotel, which dates back to 1922 and is located next to the Museum Park. Plenty of other options exist in the old city and commercial districts.
